We replaced an older horizontal boring mill with a new Okuma MA-12500H machining center. It has 1250 mm twin pallets, dual liquid cooled ballscrews on each axis, a heavy duty quill spindle, and a lot of technology to make it all work together. It also has a 177 position tool changer, a laser tool pre-setter and glass scales for improved productivity and accuracy.
The videos below show removing an old foundation and installing the new machine.
Our new Okuma MCR-A5CII 35×100 double column machining center can machine five sides in one setup on parts weighing over 50 tons with dimensions up to 32.8 ft x 11.5 ft x 6.6 ft [10 m x 3.5 m x 2 m.] Not only is it a big machine, but it is quick.
It is equipped with an automatic head changer, a 180-position tool changer, and probing for the tools and workpieces. The 8 ft [2.4 m] thick foundation, Fixator leveling system and enhanced geometry specifications from the factory make this an exceptionally accurate machine. Our engineering and technical staff use our laser inspection equipment to keep this machine in specification to make our most accurate machine bases possible.
