MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER

Entrust has a full-time position available in its engineering department for a mechanical design engineer. The individual hired will work closely with others in our engineering group as well as machinists, assemblers and programmers to produce world-class manufacturing equipment.  

The working environment is fast paced and professional. Highly skilled individuals are recognized for their contribution and will gain valuable experience while working with advanced technology and challenging design projects.

Job requirements  

  • When given a design problem the candidate should be able to generate cost effective and simple to manufacture concepts to solve it.

  • Starting with mechanical assemblies or concepts, turn them into engineered, fully detailed, functioning designs that satisfy all design constraints given.

  • Select power transmission, motion control and other purchased components

  • Prepare detailed mechanical drawings and bills of material for production

  • Understand detailing of precision components including dimensional tolerances, geometric tolerances, and general drafting practices.

  • Position requires candidate to be highly detail oriented and able to effectively manage their time to complete projects in a timely manner.

  •  Education/Experience  

  • 5+ years experience in mechanical design with preference given to machine design related experience.

  • BSME preferred.  An associate's degree and relevant work experience will be considered.

  • Minimum of 2,000 hours solid modeling experience required.  SolidWorks experience preferred but we are willing to train the right candidate that has modeling experience in another 3D CAD package.

  • Candidate must have a strong understanding of machine shop practices.

  • Experience in power transmission design, hydraulics, automation, machine tool fixture design, bearing selection, ballscrew selection, and tooling design will be given priority over other design experience.

Individuals for consideration must have all of the following:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude

  • Interest and understanding of manufacturing

  • Thorough understanding of machine shop practices

  • Organized, detailed thought process

  • Self-directed with excellent work ethic

  • Ability to work quickly and accurately

  • Very high attention to detail

  • Ability to share ideas and work with other professionals

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Substantial 3D CAD design skills, preferably with SolidWorks (experience with or other 3D modeling software will be considered)

  • Basic 2D CAD design skills, preferably with AutoCad (any version)

  • Understanding of effective use of software within Windows OS

  • Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

SYSTEMS ENGINEER – MACHINE AND AUTOMATION

Entrust has a full-time position available in our engineering department for a Systems Engineer.  This position will have a key role in developing and testing both software and hardware solutions for a variety of machine tool and automation projects.

Training is available for mechanical, electrical and software engineers who wish to expand into a systems position and grow their careers.

Job Requirements 

  • Develop software and machine interface designs to meet machine requirements

  • Develop modular programming systems, fault handling and diagnostics

  • Work with engineers and customers to determine the requirements of the machine and develop specifications for machine functions, user interface, and quality control for high reliability

  • Understand and implement customer standards for dedicated equipment

  • Participate in engineering design reviews

  • Guide startup of machines and perform troubleshooting with mechanical and electrical technicians

  • Configure drives, network communications, and other intelligent machine devices

  • Calibrate machines for position accuracy and dynamic response

  • Assist with remote customer support and troubleshooting

  • Update documentation and prepare portions of machine operation and service manuals

  • Occasional travel for project engineering or customer support issues

General requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or related field

  • Experience with industrial equipment, machine tools, and automation

  • Attention to detail and a desire to maintain high standards of workmanship

  • Understanding of machine logic, basic programming concepts

  • Ability to thrive in a team environment

  • Good communication skills, both written and oral

  • Industrial networking – Profibus, Ethernet, etc.

  • Industrial control system standards for USA and other countries such as NFPA 79, IEC, and CSA

  • Industrial hydraulic systems design and application

  • AutoCAD Electrical
